"The night paintings represent a turn in the artistic journey; how can I challenge myself with a new venture? The answer, so far, has led to experimentations with the interactions of light and darkness, and the presence of a spiritual life in the absence of a physical world."
- Greg Pyra

Greg Pyra, Canadian artist and teacher, lives in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. His life-long journey and exploration as a oil painter has created an eclectic mix of landscapes, night scenes, portraits, still life and abstract black and white illustrations.

He is perhaps best known for his evocative night scenes, in which he explores the disorientation, alienation and paradoxical possibilities that the night holds, leading ultimately to the re-discovery of light's emergence from the enveloping darkness. Pyra shares his solitude and spirit, bringing a new perspective to every day scenes - bringing his journey to light - for all to see.
